Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

CountClub ("we", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of its users. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile app and related services.

2. Data we collect

Account data

When you sign up, we collect your name (or nickname), your email address, and an encrypted password. If you use social login (Google or Apple), we receive your ID and email from the provider.

Usage data

We record the counts you create, the expenses you add, the participants, and the associated balances. This data is necessary for the service to work.

Receipt photos

If you choose to attach a receipt photo to an expense, it's stored on our servers and accessible only to members of the relevant count.

Receipt scanning

If you use receipt scanning, the photo is sent to our subprocessor Anthropic (Claude), which automatically extracts the amount, label, and currency to pre-fill the expense. Anthropic processes the image solely for this extraction, doesn't retain it beyond processing, and doesn't use it to train its models. The photo is otherwise stored as a receipt under the rules above.

Coach Léon (AI assistant)

Coach Léon is an AI assistant built into the app. Messages you send to Léon and his replies are processed by our subprocessor Anthropic (Claude) to generate responses. Anthropic processes these exchanges solely to provide this service and doesn't use them to train its models.

To improve the assistant, we keep your exchanges with Léon (your messages and his replies) for up to 90 days, after which they're automatically deleted. Beyond that, we only keep a non-personal usage category (the "intent" of each message) for statistical purposes.

This processing is covered by your acceptance of the terms of use when you create your account. You can turn off this retention at any time in the app settings (right to object): in that case, we only keep the anonymous usage category, never the text of your exchanges.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Provide the expense-sharing service
• Calculate balances and reimbursements
• Authenticate you and secure your account
• Send you notifications related to your counts (if enabled)

We never sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Storage and security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are encrypted with bcrypt. Communications between the app and our servers are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

5. Data sharing

Expense information is shared only with the other members of the same count. Outside of this context, we do not share your data with any third party, except where legally required.

We use technical subcontractors strictly necessary for the service: our server hosting provider, transactional email delivery, and Anthropic (when you scan a receipt, to extract information from it, and when you chat with Coach Léon, to generate his responses). These providers only use your data to deliver their service.

6. Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Access to your personal data

• Deletion of your account and your data
• Portability of your data
• Objection to processing

7. Data retention

Your data is kept as long as your account is active. After your account is deleted, your personal data is deleted within 30 days. Anonymized expenses may be kept for the accounts of other members.

Your conversations with Coach Léon are kept for a maximum of 90 days, then automatically deleted (see section 2). Deleting your account also deletes your conversations with Léon.

8. Changes

We may update this privacy policy. You will be notified of any significant changes through the app.
